Father’s Day 2024: Best menus, afternoon teas, and festive sweets in Hong Kong

On Sunday, 16 June, we’ll be celebrating the dads in our lives. What better way to show our appreciation than by inviting them to share a nice meal with the whole family? You’ll be showing your love and support, all the while creating new memories together! As usual, restaurants have risen to the occasion, with Father’s Day menus, afternoon teas, and festive sweets on offer all around town. Here are some of our favourite places to eat for Father’s Day 2024.

Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers

On 15 and 16 June, The Café at Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers will be serving a Father’s Day lunch and dinner buffet. The spread includes tender Boston lobsters, freshly shucked oysters, chilled seafood, and an extensive range of authentic Chinese delicacies. Fathers who dine at The Café will receive an exclusive Father’s Day puff as a show of appreciation. Bookings made here will enjoy a 15 percent discount.

Over at Oyster & Wine Bar, enjoy the Father’s Day Sunday brunch on 16 June. While enjoying the harbour views, you can savour the delights of freshly shucked oysters, succulent chilled seafood, assorted cold cuts, made-to-order hot mains, and bottomless wine and bubbles of your choice. What’s more, each table celebrating Father’s Day will receive a complimentary foie gras pâté, a glass of whisky, and a complimentary hazelnut chocolate cigar! Book your table here.

Looking to celebrate your dad with a delivery of a delicious cake? Cake & Wine Shop is offering the Father’s Day black truffle chocolate Saint-Honoré cake available to order until 14 June. From 14 to 16 June, Morton’s The Steakhouse will serve an extra-special 18-ounce dry-aged Kansas City strip with thick cut onion rings and truffle aioli. Paired with a special Father’s Day cocktail, The Rare Bird, the celebration is complete. The drink is a blend of Wild Turkey whiskey, coffee liqueur, vermouth, and angostura bitters.

Regent Hotels

The Lobby Lounge at the Regent will be serving a Father’s Day afternoon tea set on 16 June. The ensemble includes the 100% Cacao, a pre-baked cacao sable tart with chocolate almond, stuffed cacao nibs, jelly made from fresh cacao fruit flesh, sobacha caramel, and whipped ganache. Inspired by the cacao pod, this layered, rich concoction serves four to six people. Get yours here.

Awarded two Michelin stars, Lai Ching Heen specialises in refined Cantonese cuisine. On 15 and 16 June, Lai Ching Heen will provide an eight-course dinner menu, featuring golden stuffed crab shell with crab meat, braised fresh whole three-head abalone accompanied by tofu sachets with seafood in oyster jus, and sumptuous wok-fried Kagoshima Wagyu with lily bulbs and cauliflower mushrooms. Lucciola

Is your dad a meat and wine lover? Invite him to a dinner at Lucciola, where you will find delicacies such as braised Wagyu beef cheek with Madagascar green pepper, pistachio crust, mashed potatoes, baby carrot, and gravy and spaghetti with fresh oyster and lardo ham sauce and smoked herring caviar. The drinks menu has a wide selection of red, white, and sparkling wines. If you are leaning towards a weekend brunch, you will indulge in classics such as prime US beef rib-eye steak with wild rocket, Vesuvian datterino tomatoes, and aged Modena balsamic vinegar, and Wagyu beef carpaccio with Hari sauce, Castelmagno, and arugula. JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong

An exclusive Father’s Day cake is now available on JW Marriott’s online boutique. Dolce 88’s white coffee cheese gâteau is adorned with a cowboy hat, glasses made of milk chocolate, and a mustache cut-out. On 16 June, you can enjoy the refreshing and vibrant flavours of the Mediterranean region with delights such as Gillardeau oysters with smoked paprika and pickled dressing, chicken croquette with lemon aioli and Espelette pepper, and sea urchin potato salad with green pea salad. On 15 and 16 June, a Father’s Day brunch set is available at Salisterra. The brunch menu starts with a generous serving of five shared appetisers for the table: cured meats, mezze selection of muhammara, hummus, kalamata olives, feta cheese, pita bread, Spanish croquetas, caprese salad, and shakshuka. Highlights of the main course selection are the pan-fried rib-eye steak, lobster stuffed with tomato and orzo, and porchetta, as well as vegetarian options such as the meloso rice with roasted morel mushrooms and fava beans. The brunch set will end with delectable desserts such as the crème Catalana, whiskey fondant, and phyllo milk pie.

Umami

Throughout weekends in June and until Sunday 16, Umami is serving the Wagyu Beef-tastic tasting trio. The menu encompasses sumptuous Wagyu beef from Japan, Australia, and South Africa, including Australian M5 Wagyu tataki, teppanyaki South African M5 Wagyu beef roll with garlic and spring onion, and teppanyaki A5 Wagyu cubes with wasabi gravy sauce. The Seafood Adventure hot pot set boasts nine types of seafood, such as sea prawns, abalones, Irish razor clams, Atlantic scallops, as well as meats and signature dumplings. For beef lovers, the Beef Bliss hot pot set includes a selection of 10 beef items, including Kagoshima Satsuma Wagyu sirloin and Australian Wagyu M5 rib-eye. Not all fathers are carnivorous. For all vegetarian dads, head over to Jaja, a restaurant dedicated to exploring vegetarian creations and foods. The limited-time Ankh tasting menu—boasting seven Japanese and Italian courses such as the charcoal-grilled saikyo miso marinated black cod and the chilli teriyaki lamb with yuzu, garlic, and miso—is just tasty icing on the cake. Especially on Father’s Day weekend, Aqua will serve the complimentary Cohiba cigar, a cake made of gianduia semifreddo, a frozen cake made with hazelnut, chocolate, and a hint of whisky. Chinese restaurant Hutong will be hosting the Feng Wei brunch on Father’s Day weekend. Five different free-flow brunch packages are available to accompany unlimited appetisers, such as barbecue pork bao, pork siu mai with caviar, abalone slices with Sichuan peppercorn, and more, and three sharing main courses like Hunan steamed cod, wok-tossed Sichuan style lobster, or sliced beef short ribs.

At dinner time, Hutong will be serving a six-course menu, inclusive of Hunan-style lobster with fermented beans, crab meat fried rice with crab roe, and a mala dark chocolate mousse with a coffee stick in the shape of a cigar. Find out more here.

Zuma is celebrating Father’s Day in typical Zuma style—think brunch with a splash—with a limited-time one-kilogram Australian Wagyu T-bone steak available on 16 June only.
