7 new cafés and coffee shops in Hong Kong to visit this June

Hong Kong is bursting with coffee shops, and new openings are appearing left and right. Holding its own against neighbouring rivals South Korea and Japan when it comes to coffee and cafés, our city definitely has its own eclectic roster to boast about. After all, who doesn’t need their daily dose of caffeine or thirst-quenching drink to start the day? Join us as we round up the latest cafés and coffee shops popping up in the city.

Lab Zero

Lab Zero has been gaining a steady following since its recent opening. One of the highlights include its Instagrammable shaved ice desserts that are as refreshing and delicious as they are photogenic. Available in a selection of flavours, popular choices include the taro balls milk shaved ice and the rich black sesame shaved ice. Mains and small bites are also on offer alongside coffees, teas, and speciality drinks perfect for cooling down on a hot summer day. Be sure to arrive early to secure a seat!

InTime

Newly opened in Central, InTime is a two-storey café serving everything from breakfast to late night drinks. Breakfast sets are available as a morning pick-me-up for the busy worker, whilst lunch sets offer a delicious mid-day break. A selection of à la carte items are also on offer throughout the day, such as risotto, pasta, and small bites.

You can expect the usual variety of coffees from InTime alongside a series of signatures and specials, including hojicha latte and beetroot honey latte, as well as Kyoto grape and peach oolong tea and apple and loquat green tea.

G’Day Café

Newly opened in Sai Ying Pun, G’Day Café is a dog-friendly joint serving up delicious Australian-inspired grub alongside quality brews. The café has offerings from breakfast all the way to drinks and desserts, which includes the G’sanga—an innovative take on the classic bacon and egg sandwich—as well as hearty mains such as the chilled octopus with pickled jalapeño and classic seafood platter, which are sure to satisfy.

G’Day also has you covered with all-you-can-eat menus available on Tuesdays and Fridays. Wash it all down with a range of Aussie signatures and specialities such as the aromatic osmanthus latte and spicy oat milk dirty chai.

Introvert Coffee & Roastery

An adorable, sea otter-themed coffee shop has just popped up in Sham Shui Po! Serving quality brews made with beans handpicked by the owner, this quaint corner shop offers city dwellers a relaxing shelter from the hustle and bustle of their busy lives.

Allez Coffee

Allez Coffee is a new café soft opening in Shek Kip Mei and is the place for all bread and pastry lovers. Stocked with a wide selection of sandwiches and pastry pairings with mains, Allez Coffee has no shortage of carb-y surprises. The bagel sandwiches are must-tries on the menu, featuring classic fillings such as Parma ham and cheese and more unique flavours such as sakura shrimp with mentaiko cheese sauce. If savouries are not for you, try out Allez’s Basque burnt cheesecake served with fresh cream and strawberry—don’t forget to pair your slice with a warm cup of coffee.

Sun Hui Café

Located in the quaint residential area of Sun Hui, Tuen Mun, is a new café sporting an eye-catching emerald exterior. Simply named Sun Hui Café, the shop offers a selection of small bites and mains such as freshly baked croffles with a range of sweet and savoury toppings, coffee, and Hong Kong-style milk tea served in classic cha chaan teng takeaway cups. Complete with a wooden, minimalistic interior and outdoor seating, this is the perfect spot to unwind with a fresh brew.

Alchemy Origin

Newly opened in Quarry Bay, Alchemy Origin is a homecoming for the popular café chain, Espresso Alchemy, which opened its first store in the area. This new store sports a rammed earth-inspired interior that sets it apart from other Espresso Alchemy stores and which represents the origins of coffee beans used for the quality brews.

A selection of mains and desserts with keto-friendly alternatives are available at Alchemy Origin, such as grilled chicken burger with pineapple and lemon paste, keto tiramisu roll, and French toast with housemade berry jam.
