Knowing this, you can peacefully browse through our selection of what to watch on Netflix Hong Kong this November.

All The Light We Cannot See

This Netflix series is the adaptation of the eponymous novel by Anthony Doerr, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2015. Long-awaited by all of those who read this heart-breaking yet hopeful World War II story, All the Light We Cannot See is a limited series with four gripping episodes. Set in France, it follows the intertwined paths of Marie-Laure, a blind French girl, and Werner, a German soldier. In the midst of the horrors of war, can people still be good towards one another?

Squid Game: The Challenge

Do you remember when Squid Game took over our screens and global pop culture? Well, it’s time for a second round, with Squid Game: The Challenge! In this reality-television adaptation of the Korean series, contestants compete to win a big cash prize. Reprising iconic games from the original show, this live competition has less violence (at least, this is what we are hoping for). How far will the players go to win? Available 22 November.

Nyad

For those of us who are in desperate need of some inspiration towards year’s end, Netflix is releasing a film about the jaw-dropping story of Diana Nyad. Helmed by Annette Bening and Jodie Foster, who play Diana and her best friend Bonnie, respectively, the biopic tells the incredible true story of when Diana—a long-distance swimmer-turned-sports journalist—swan from Cuba to Florida in open water at the age of 60.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

As far as self-help goes, not everything out there is necessarily good to take in. However, over the years, Mark Manson has somehow used a counterintuitive approach to the matter, and what he has to say is not all bad. This month, his book, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck—which, amongst other topics, reminds readers that they are not special—is being adapted into a documentary.

The Crown (Final Season, Part 1)

After five seasons, three different casts, and royal tales spanning from 1947 to the early 2000s, the series following the reign of Queen Elizabeth II is coming to an end. The first part will be released this month, with the six remaining episodes being released in December. This final season is set to depict even more political affairs, such as Tony Blair’s premiership, as well as personal events, such as the meeting of Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as the tragic death of Princess Diana. Available 16 November.

Robbie Williams

Here are a few hints about the star of a new biopic documentary coming to Netflix soon: Take That, Angels, She’s the One… Yes, that’s right, it’s about Robbie Williams! If the title didn’t give it away, Robbie Williams is a must-watch as the British singer and entertainer reflects on his life as a pop star. You can look forward to nostalgic throwbacks, hearing hits from his career, and laugh till your belly hurts—the singer is known for having quite the sense of humour. So come on and let him entertain you! Available 8 November.

Daily Dose of Sunshine

Daily Dose of Sunshine is a K-drama series based on the same-named Kakao webtoon, which follows the ups and downs of Jung Da-eun, a nurse, as she starts working in a neuropsychiatry service. With persistence and the help of trusted colleagues, she works on furthering her career and new personal relationships are born.

Wingwomen

Wingwomen is French filmmaker Mélanie Laurent’s latest release. Badass, funny, and packed with action, the movie follows criminals Alex, Carole, and Sam as they attempt to steal a famous painting from the Louvre in Paris. It’s a heist movie that attempts to shake things up a little by being women-led, à la Ocean’s 8, which we applaud.
